Musical Director
Nick Symes
Nick Symes
Nick graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (rather a long time ago!) and then embarked on his teaching career, firstly in community schools around Cambridge and later in Hampshire. His last musical post was as Head of Creative Arts Faculty at Kings’ School Winchester.During his time in teaching he directed and conducted a wide range of choirs and orchestras - some with younger musicians, some with older - performing in schools, churches, cathedrals and theatres.
In 2002 Nick left teaching and has more recently established a small educational consultancy – nothing to do with music at all!
He currently sings with the Ashton singers.
Nick has welcomed the opportunity of directing the Cheriton Singers. The choir provides him with a chance to do what he enjoys most – having fun making music, working with a group that is inclusive regardless of musical ability - and trying to get the very best from them.
